#RMIT #Week6 In week 6 of my studies, I had the opportunity to delve into the fascinating intersection of sound and visual art. This week’s exercise opened my eyes to the idea that sound waves, with their varying frequencies, can be represented through geometric layers, allowing sound to be visualized in a way that resonates with the viewer’s emotions. The experience was profound, revealing how sound can be nearly perfectly visualized, drawing the audience deeper into the emotional narrative I aim to convey.

For this project, I composed a joyful piece of music with the guidance of my music teacher.

The composition uses a cheerful tone, and I chose to visualize it by working with a frequency range of 20-80kHz. This frequency range played a crucial role in determining the velocity of the visual elements, thereby creating more distinct emotional highs and lows. The use of yellow tones was intentional, symbolizing the happiness I wanted to convey through the music.

However, I realized that something was missing. The representation of volume and lower frequencies, which are naturally opposed to the 20-80kHz range, seemed lacking. To address this, I added elements such as flowers and a circular spectrum at the center. These additions not only balanced the visual representation but also provided a more comprehensive portrayal of the music’s dynamics.

The highlight of this video lies in the variation of velocity within the music, enhancing the fusion between the visual and auditory elements. Through this exercise, I discovered the immense potential of using sound frequencies to create visual representations. It’s a powerful tool that allows artists like myself to explore new dimensions in the relationship between sound and imagery, pushing the boundaries of emotional expression in multimedia art.
